Your Choice For Your Dog: Homemade or Kibbles

The choice of making your dog's food or going to the store and buying it can be tough. The most important part of the decision is your pet’s health. If owners are willing to spend an excessive amount of money on preventing ailments, then why not feed their pets healthily? Many dogs are overweight and suffer from obesity by not getting enough exercise or eating unhealthy food, just like humans.

Most store bought kibbles contain unhealthy items for your dog. In many of the kibbles you will find unwanted ingredients like chemical preservatives, by-products, indigestible fillers, high levels of carbohydrates and high levels of fat. Store bought kibbles are convenient, have a great shelf life and are sometimes less expensive, but they also can be harmful. If you are going to feed your dog kibbles, take the time to check what they are made of. Look for organic ingredients instead of harmful chemicals, additives or preservatives to give your pet the best possible.

Your dog should be eating a diet that consists of 30% starch, 30% vegetables and 40% meat for a well-balanced meal. Making your pet’s food from scratch can help dogs maintain weight and better health. An easy recipe for homemade dog food is putting inexpensive meat in a crock-pot with some carrots, potatoes and crushed tomatoes. Cook until done, let cool and you have a healthy meal for your dog that's good enough for you to eat. To give your dog the optimum health, add vitamins and supplements to their food. Homemade dog food gives variety to your pet, making a happier pet. Augmenting your pet's health with either organic kibbles or homemade food can help extend you pet’s life.
