Non-shedding is a term given to dogs that release very little or no dander, as they have no undercoat. People with allergies are able to tolerant these better than most other dogs. These non-shedding and low shedding dog breeds are considered to be hypoallergenic if they are properly groomed. Grooming of individual breeds varies; some may need a bath only every two to three months, with a weekly washcloth cleaning of face and paws, while other dogs need a good brushes at least once a week, and some need to be groomed and clipped every two to three months.
Some of the non-shedding dogs that can be found are Affenpinscher, Yorkshire Terries, Schnauzer, American Hairless Terrier, Poodles (Toy, Miniature or Standard), Bichon Frise, Maltase, Lhasa Apso, Brussels Griffon (rough coat only), Italian Greyhound, Chinese Crested Hairless, and the Cairn Terrier. The next set of breeds that do shed a little include the Scottish Terriers West Highland - White Terrier, may also be better know as Westies, Havanese and the Airedale Terrier. As both sets of dogs they can still have some dander, allergy suffers should test their ability to be around them with a few visits with one before making a decision to buy one.
Many of the non-shedding breeds listed above are small dogs keeping them warm in the winter is suggested. They will need a little special attention, as they have no undercoat. There are a wide variety of dog sweaters, they are practical and adorable.
