The greatest characteristic found within the English Golden Retriever is their friendly personality and social enthusiasm. The retriever is not only a family dog at heart but also good with other dogs and small children. Although this English retriever will not likely attack, they will scare almost any person that invades their owners territory with their loud bark.
These beautifully cream-colored set of English retrievers have a big boned body structure, a more square face and stocky body unlike the other types of retrievers such as the Golden and Black Labrador retrievers. The English Retriever is often times used as a mobility dog for the seeing impaired because they have a history of being tame and knowledgeable. These dogs are always willing to learn which creates the characteristics of a fun and loyal family dog.
The English Retriever has the characteristic of becoming attached to his or her owner to the point the dog will get separation anxiety or depressed if left alone for a even a short period of time. These dogs are naturally hyper and active so it is important to take them out on daily walks, runs through a park or even swimming at the beach. The grooming on these dogs must be well maintained because they have a tendency to shed a lot of their coat. The English Retriever is approximately 65 pounds so when driving them around it would be better to have a truck or large vehicle to provide them plenty of room.
