I'm not getting paid by anyone or any company to tell you about this watering system. It's just that I think it's heads and tails above the rest and I have tried most of them. The most popular one has a big jar in the back that holds and dispenses the water through the filter and down a spout. After I had been using it awhile, I found it became rather temperamental. Sometimes it would work perfectly and sometimes it would not. Because I have "furry" dogs, their shedding got into the moving parts and slowed it down or caused it not to work . I felt like I was always cleaning it, taking it apart to remove any gunk, and refilling.
The watering system I have now is just great, except for the price. It's called Fresh & Clear, made by the Hagen Corporation. I bought it at PetSmart but after scouring their site, I contacted them and was told that this item is not sold online. So I located it at another online site and it is more than $20 less than what I paid! Bad for me, good for you. Check it out at http:///www.arcatapet.com/category.cfm?catnum=249Its reservoir holds lots of water and even with all my dogs I only refill about every two days. It is simple to fill. it has few moving parts. The filter is easy to get to, clean, and replace. The best part is that the water is elevated. The dog is not bending down to get a drink. The top is just like a water fountain, a geyser going up about 3 inches and then falling into the bowl on top. Have a small dog? Some of the water is meant to flow down the sides of the reservoir where smaller dogs can get their drinks. There is also a splash guard around the actual bowl.
If you are constantly filling your dogs' water dish, or if the water is dirty the minute they stick their snout in, this bowl is perfect. It's a bit costly, but it will save you hassles and time and keep your dogs well hydrated with little effort from you. If you can't afford it, it's worth putting on your credit card and paying off as you can or putting it at the top of your Christmas list.
Do you have it? What's your opinion?
