Our youngest, a standard poodle puppy about eight months old, loves this item as much as I do. Once when it was empty and I had not realized it, I heard a strange, repeating noise. I looked at the fountain and there was our pup, with her huge paws -- much too big for the rest of her body -- trying to get the reservoir off the base. She had seen me do it many times, every time I take the reservoir to fill it. I guess she wanted to take it off so I would know it needed to be filled. Her paws kept slipping off the surface as she stood over it, sat next to it, and tried to find a direction from which she could take off the top. How ingenious!
Our apha dog, the eldest, has no problem getting the water. In fact, Gracie, our 12 year old golden, likes to drink from the water that squirts up and out.
Charlie Joe, our resident male, prefers to drink out of the top, using it like a regular water bowl. From the first time, none of them were afraid to use it. I thought they might be. It is very quiet and only needs water added every other day, even with four dogs.
This is my latest find in the world of dogs. I'm always looking for and trying new products to make their lives and mine easier.
