We all know that obesity is a major problem for dogs, especially in the United States, so we want to be careful about the treats we provide. Here are a few that are good for dogs and are highly recommend by my goldens:
- baby carrots
- broccoli stems (yes, my dogs beg for them)
- fruit (but not grapes or raisins -- ever)
- scrambled eggs (or hard boiled)
- celery (good for dogs but mine ignore it)
- apple and pear chunks (they're terrific choices; let the peel on for extra goodness -- but wash well first)
- deli meats (too much salt)
- hot dogs (true, not good for them or us)
- cheeses (too much fat)
- raw meats (although raw diet owners swear by this)
- bread
- grapes and raisins (mentioned above)
