Halloween Treats for Your Pup

As you prepare for trick or treaters, don't forget about your dogs! They love treats too, whether or not your dogs are in costume.

We all know that obesity is a major problem for dogs, especially in the United States, so we want to be careful about the treats we provide. Here are a few that are good for dogs and are highly recommend by my goldens:
  • baby carrots
  • broccoli stems (yes, my dogs beg for them)
  • fruit (but not grapes or raisins -- ever)
  • scrambled eggs (or hard boiled)
  • celery (good for dogs but mine ignore it)
  • apple and pear chunks (they're terrific choices; let the peel on for extra goodness -- but wash well first)
These foods in the kitchen are not recommended, but our dogs will steal any of them if given the chance:
  • deli meats (too much salt)
  • hot dogs (true, not good for them or us)
  • cheeses (too much fat)
  • raw meats (although raw diet owners swear by this)
  • bread
  • grapes and raisins (mentioned above)
Prepare your treat bags for the kids
and for your furry ones too!

I have 4 dogs, 4 cats and am a groomer - great website! Also, go to my website: creatingbuttons.com - I make all kinds of "pet" buttons.
