Goldendoodle Dogs

Designer breeds are becoming increasingly popular these days. Goldendoodle dogs are one successful designer breed desired around the world.

Goldendoodle dogs may be so appealing because they combine the traits of two lovable dogs: the Golden Retriever and the Poodle. Both of these breeds are known for their intelligence and natural ability as water dogs. Thus, both dogs have a keen sense of smell and a thick, warm coat to endure frigid temperatures in water and marshlands. However, some dog owners find that the dander produced by a Golden Retriever causes allergies. Due to Poodles' curly, fleece-like fur (sometimes compared to human hair), Poodles produce less allergens and are desired by dog lovers who are sensitive to allergies. A dog hybrid between the Golden Retriever and the Poodle was bred by pet owners who liked the personality of their Golden but have an aversion to their fur. This hypoallergenic trait is also appreciated by people with allergies in need of service dogs, as Goldendoodles make exceptional service dogs.

Another reason Goldendoodle dogs have gained fame is because of their usually great health, or hybrid vigour. Dog hybrids, like most hybrids, have an increased gene pool and thus are less likely to suffer from inherited diseases or negative traits. While not universally true, the marriage of a Golden Retriever's genes with a Poodle's genes usually leads to healthier offspring, as Goldendoodles have been known to live to be about 15 years old. Overall, Goldendoodles are a great dog breed to own provided potential adopters don't mind paying the premium price designer breeds usually command.
